Marian Center Facade Restoration

St. Francis, Wisconsin

Project Type:

Project Overview

The Marian Center was in the third year of a five year capital improvements restoration project when a severely deteriorated structural column was discovered behind the face brick. The structural integrity of the column had been compromised to the point where the column had to be replaced. Mr. Pfaller (lead design architect), the contractor, and the structural engineer devised a method to install a new structural system to “take over” for the deteriorated column without having to remove the existing column. This method saved the client tens of thousands of dollars worth of shoring, underpinning, reconstruction of interior finishes and engineering fees. Mr. Pfaller has completed over 7 exterior restoration projects for the Marian Center including a master plan for the execution of these and future projects.
